Irish Nutrition & Dietetic Institute is the professional organisation for dietitians in Ireland. It contains fact sheets developed by dietitians for public information about a wide range of dietary related conditions throughout the life stages.
HSE Health Promotion website contains a volume of leaflets and resources on a range of health topics that can be downloaded or ordered.
Get Ireland Active website is a hub of information and ideas aimed at encouraging increased physical activity whatever your age!
Diabetes Ireland contains information and advice to provide support, education and research into Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
The Irish Heart Foundation provides information and resources on heart health for the public and media and regularly holds heart health awareness campaigns. The Irish Heart Foundation’s Happy Heart at Work is designed to assist any individual or working group with responsibility for health or welfare, to plan implement and maintain a healthy lifestyle programme for employees in the workplace. The objective of the Healthy Eating Award programme is to assist a staff restaurant to adopt healthier cooking practices and provide healthier food choices for staff, without incurring substantial cost. Recommendations given to the catering manager meet the Irish Heart Foundation and the Department of Health's Healthy Eating Guidelines.
Safefood provides information about food safety, healthy eating and food hygiene advice for consumers, healthy food recipes, food safety education and professional resources.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland is a statutory, independent and science-based body, dedicated to protecting public health and consumer interests in the area of food safety and hygiene. The FSAI is legally obliged to base its opinions on scientific grounds and to develop food standards on the basis of the best, most up-to-date scientific advice available. Copies of its reports are available on its website.
The Irish Food Allergy Network is intended as a guide to assist those who, through their work, encounter children and families affected by food allergy. The guidelines contained on this site are intended for use by healthcare professionals.
The National Dairy Council aims to be the information resource of choice for consumers, school children, health professionals and those working in the dairy and broader food industry.
Sense about science is a UK Based charitable trust that equips people to make sense of scientific and medical claims in public discussion.

The nature of the games outlined in the 'Playground Markings & Traditional Games' (HSE) resource are such that even the least active of children can get some enjoyment from playing these games. All games are task orientated and research has shown that such an environment increases enjoyment, adherence and motivation in pupil involvement and learning in physical education. 'Feed Your Child Well: a handbook for parents in Ireland' (ISBN 9781906353025) was written by paediatric dietitians and provides practical and unbiased advice on everything from the basics of nutrition to shopping wisely, from dealing with food refusal to fads, allergies and anaemia. I have some remaining copies of the 3rd edition that you can buy here for €10 plus P&P.
'Your Middle Years: Love Them. Live Them. Own Them' (ISBN13: 9780717169757) is written by INDI member dietitian Paula Mee and offers advice on diet, beauty, sex, sleep, emotional health and more to empower you before, during, and after the menopause, helping you to anticipate and manage the changes.
